Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Striptease' registered in 2003, 'Gypsy Rose' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with white margins and a pale yellow center band, in contrast to the creamy white center of its parent. The leaf surface is dull above with a glaucous bloom beneath, and the nearly round, flat blades bear 9 to 11 vein pairs.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a mound 15 inches (38.1 cm) tall and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It is suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it appropriate for border fronts, woodland gardens, or container plantings.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Gypsy Rose' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor accordingly.
