Overview

Registered in 1988 by E. Smith and the British Hosta and Hemerocallis Society, 'Grey Goose' is a small blue-green hosta derived from the *H.* Tardiana Group. Its leaves are broadly ovate, slightly cupped, and bear a distinctive blue-green coloration with narrow, lighter margins, supported by 13 pairs of veins.

In the Garden

'Grey Goose' reaches a mature clump diameter of 19 inches (48.3 cm) and a height of 10 inches (25.4 cm), making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, and pairs well with small ferns, heucheras, or woodland groundcovers. Its compact size also suits trough gardens or small patio pots.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs may damage the foliage, so monitor and control as needed; deer resistance is typical for blue-leaved cultivars but not guaranteed.
