Overview

Registered in 1997 by P. Ruh, *Hosta* 'Greenwood' is a small-sized cultivar of unknown parentage. It is distinguished by its narrow, variegated leaves with dark green, slightly rippled margins and a cordate base, reaching approximately 4.75 inches in length and 1.75 inches in width.

In the Garden

'Greenwood' forms an upright mound 19 inches high and 24 inches in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones, where its compact size makes it appropriate for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of borders. Companion plants may include small ferns, *Heuchera*, or *Tiarella*.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may cause damage; monitor and manage as needed.
