Overview
Registered in 2013 by Greenhead Gardens, this medium-sized hosta cultivar is distinguished by its unusual color development: the gold leaf margins produce yellow pigment that gradually infiltrates the blue-green leaf center, creating a butterscotch-toned overlay across much of the blade. The plant forms a mound of ovate, slightly wavy leaves with a glaucous bloom on the undersides and a slightly shiny upper surface.
In the Garden
Reaching approximately 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height and 29 inches (73.7 cm) in diameter with a moderate growth rate, this cultivar performs best in partial to dappled shade typical of hosta-growing zones. Its medium size suits it for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shade gardens, where the evolving leaf coloration provides seasonal interest. The green scapes rise 19 to 21 inches (48.3 to 53.3 cm) above the foliage.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new shoots emerge. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most hostas.
