Overview
Registered in 2009 by P. & J. Ruh as a sport of *Hosta* 'Spilt Milk', 'Green Milk' is distinguished by its large, nearly round blue-green leaves with a glaucous bloom, flat medium green margins, and a cupped, folded, corrugated texture. The cultivar’s stately, upright habit and substantial leaf surface area give it a commanding presence in the landscape.
In the Garden
'Green Milk' reaches a mature diameter of 35.5 inches (90.2 cm) and a height of 23 inches (58.4 cm), making it suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. Its slow growth rate and large, rounded leaves pair well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials that contrast in texture or form. The plant is not recommended for container cultivation due to its size.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. 'Green Milk' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, typical for large-leaved hostas in shaded gardens.
