Overview

Registered in 1987 by Paul Aden, this small hosta cultivar originated from a cross between *H.* 'Just So' (pod parent) and *H.* 'Little Aurora' (pollen parent). *Hosta* 'Green Line' is distinguished by its narrow, lance-shaped green leaves with bright yellow-green margins, forming a compact, low mound.

In the Garden

*Hosta* 'Green Line' reaches a mature size of approximately 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) in height and 7 inches (17.8 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or trough containers. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs well with other small hostas, ferns, or shade-tolerant groundcovers. Its diminutive stature also makes it an excellent candidate for miniature hosta collections or dish gardens.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during dry periods; apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage, so monitor regularly and employ control measures as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
