Overview

Registered in 1990 by R. Stephens, this medium-sized hosta cultivar is a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Sunshine Sister'. It is visually distinctive for its green leaves with pale greenish-yellow margins, a color pattern that reverses the typical gold-centered, green-margined form found in many hostas.

In the Garden

*Hosta* 'Grecian Gold' forms a clump 25 inches (63.5 cm) in diameter and 15 inches (38.1 cm) tall, with leaves 8 inches (20.3 cm) long and 6 inches (15.2 cm) wide. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts, woodland gardens, or shaded rock gardens.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed.
