Overview
Registered in 2003 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Great Expectations', 'Great Arrival' is a giant cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with wide, creamy yellow margins that do not burn in sun. The leaf surface exhibits a glaucous bloom on both sides, with deep corrugation, moderate cupping, and light waviness, producing a mound-like habit.
In the Garden
'Great Arrival' forms a substantial mound 50 inches (127 cm) in diameter and 26 inches (66 cm) tall, with a slow growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the blue-green leaf centers and creamy yellow margins maintain their contrast. Its large, textured foliage makes it suitable as a specimen or accent plant in shaded borders and woodland gardens; pair with ferns, *Heuchera*, or other shade-tolerant perennials that complement its scale and color.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
