Overview

Registered in 2009 by K. Walek, 'Grand Forks' is a small blue-green hosta resulting from a cross between *H.* 'Pearl Lake' and an unnamed seedling. Its distinctive features include cupped, blue-green leaves with prominent veining and a compact, mound-like growth habit.

In the Garden

'Grand Forks' forms a dense mound reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 26 inches (66.0 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, or small ornamental grasses. Its small size also makes it an excellent choice for trough gardens or shaded patio pots.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it may be susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing in typical hosta-growing zones.
