Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Celebration' registered in 2002 by P. & J. Ruh, 'Gorgeous George' forms a small, mound-like clump reaching 19 inches (48.3 cm) in diameter. Its variegated foliage features medium green, slightly rippled margins with a shiny upper surface and very shiny undersides, supported by seven prominent vein pairs on each ovate leaf.
In the Garden
This compact cultivar performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and reaches a mature height of approximately 7 inches (18 cm) with a spread of 19 inches (48 cm). Its moderate growth rate and small stature make it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. Companion plants include ferns, heucheras, and small woodland perennials that share similar light and moisture requirements.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may cause damage to the foliage; monitor regularly and employ control measures as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
