Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Lakeside Cha Cha' registered in 2005, 'Good Night Irene' is a large, fast-growing cultivar distinguished by its dark green leaves with light green feathering and narrow white margins. The leaf blades are broadly ovate with cordate bases, measuring 9 inches (22.9 cm) long and 8 inches (20.3 cm) wide, with ten pairs of veins and slightly rippled, white edges 0.4 inches (1.0 cm) wide.

In the Garden

'Good Night Irene' forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. Its fast growth rate allows it to fill space quickly, and it pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. The pale lavender flowers appear on scapes 26 to 30 inches (66.0 to 76.2 cm) tall in midsummer.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. While generally low-maintenance, slug and deer damage may occur in typical hosta-growing zones.
