Overview

Registered in 2009, this giant hosta cultivar results from a complex cross involving *Hosta* 'Fascination', *H. montana* f. *macrophylla*, and three additional parent lines. Its most distinctive features are the exceptionally large leaves—up to 14 inches long and 9.5 inches wide—with dark green centers and creamy white, slightly rippled margins that vary from three-quarters to two inches in width.

In the Garden

'Gone with the Wind' forms a fast-growing, mound-like clump reaching 48 inches in diameter and 25 inches in height, making it suitable as a specimen or background plant in shaded borders. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the broad, deeply veined leaves with moderate waviness develop their characteristic coloration. The green scapes, rising 30 to 32 inches, support pale lavender flowers in midsummer.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during establishment and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug damage and should be monitored in damp conditions; deer may also browse the foliage.
