Overview

Registered in 2004 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Wooly Mammoth', 'Golden Tusk' is a large, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with medium gold, flat margins. The broadly ovate, moderately corrugated foliage reaches 10 inches in length and 8 inches in width, with 14 to 16 pairs of veins and a glaucous bloom on both surfaces.

In the Garden

This slow-growing hosta forms a substantial mound 22 inches tall and 48 inches in diameter, making it suitable as a specimen or focal point in shaded borders and woodland gardens. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the gold margins remain brightest without scorching. Pair with ferns, *Heuchera*, or other shade-tolerant perennials that complement its blue-green center and gold edge.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many large-leaved hostas, 'Golden Tusk' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and employ control measures as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
