Overview
Registered in 1997 by C. Lewis and introduced by P. Ruh, *Hosta* 'Golden Plum' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinguished by its green leaves with yellow, slightly rippled margins, a dull surface on both sides, and cordate leaf bases.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms an upright, moderate-growing clump reaching 32 inches (81.3 cm) in diameter and 13 inches (33.0 cm) in height. It is suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones, where its gold-margined foliage provides contrast against darker-leaved companions such as *Heuchera* or ferns. Its medium size makes it appropriate for mid-border positions or shaded woodland gardens, though its dimensions are too large for most containers.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most hostas.
