Overview
Registered in 2000 by C. Noffsinger, this giant sport of *Hosta* 'Sum and Substance' is distinguished by its large green leaves with heavily rippled, greenish-yellow to yellow margins. The leaf surface is slightly shiny above and below, with cordate bases and twelve pairs of veins.
In the Garden
With a mature spread of 60 inches (152.4 cm) and height of 36 inches (91.4 cm), 'Golden Piecrust' forms a fast-growing mound suitable for partial shade to dappled light in typical hosta-growing zones. Its substantial size makes it effective as a specimen or background plant in woodland gardens, paired with ferns or shade-tolerant perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Astilbe*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate barriers or deterrents.
