Overview
Registered in 1995, *Hosta* 'Golden Picture' is a self-pollinated seedling of *H. fortunei* 'Albopicta' that produces large, rounded mounds of green foliage with broad, yellow-gold margins. The cultivar is visually distinctive for its nearly orbicular leaves—each measuring 24.1 cm in both length and width—and its smooth, slightly shiny leaf surfaces.
In the Garden
'Golden Picture' forms a substantial mound 51 cm tall and 89 cm in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. The large, cordate-based leaves with 10 vein pairs and gold margins provide strong contrast against darker green companions such as ferns or *Heuchera*. Its moderate growth rate and symmetrical habit suit it for woodland gardens or shaded foundation plantings.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during active growth; apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new shoots emerge. Like most large-leaved hostas, 'Golden Picture' may require protection from slugs and deer in garden settings.
