Overview
Registered in 2009 by K. Walek, *Hosta* 'Golden Memories' is a large, mound-forming cultivar derived from *H. 'Sum and Substance'* as seed parent. It is visually distinctive for its heavily corrugated, blue-green leaves with broad, golden yellow margins and a heavy glaucous bloom on the undersides.
In the Garden
This cultivar reaches a mature size of approximately 21 inches (53.3 cm) in height and 42 inches (106.7 cm) in diameter, forming an unruly, rounded mound. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and its bold foliage provides strong textural contrast. The large leaves and substantial size make it suitable as a specimen or accent in shaded borders and woodland gardens; it is not recommended for containers due to its mature dimensions.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as both pests may damage the foliage.
