Overview
Registered in 1994, *Hosta* 'Golden Delight' is a large hybrid of *H.* 'Wayside Blue' distinguished by its blue-green leaves with medium gold, smooth margins. The foliage is dull on the upper surface with a glaucous bloom beneath, and the leaf base is cordate.
In the Garden
'Golden Delight' forms a substantial mound 48 inches (121.9 cm) in diameter and 27 inches (68.6 cm) tall, with leaves 10 inches (25.4 cm) long and 9 inches (22.9 cm) wide bearing 12 to 14 vein pairs. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and its large size makes it suitable as a specimen or in the middle to back of a shaded border. Companion plants include ferns, *Heuchera*, and shade-tolerant groundcovers.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges; standard slug and deer precautions are advisable in areas where these pests are prevalent.
