Overview
Registered in 1989 by S. Bond, 'Goldbrook Grace' is a small sport of *Hosta* 'Golden Prayers' distinguished by its green leaves with pale yellow to medium gold margins. The foliage measures 4 inches (10.2 cm) long by 3 inches (7.6 cm) wide, with 7 to 8 pairs of veins, and the plant forms a compact mound 6 inches (15.2 cm) tall and 10 inches (25.4 cm) in diameter.
In the Garden
This diminutive hosta is suited to partial to dappled shade, where its gold-edged leaves brighten the foreground of shaded borders or rock gardens. At maturity it remains under 10 inches in diameter, making it an appropriate choice for troughs, small containers, or edging along pathways. Companion plants such as small ferns, *Heuchera*, or miniature *Epimedium* complement its scale and coloration.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly when grown in containers. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, foliage may be browsed by deer and slugs, though the small stature of 'Goldbrook Grace' makes it easier to protect with barriers or baits if needed.
