Overview
Registered in 1989 by S. Bond, 'Goldbrook Genie' is a small hosta derived from a hybrid of *H. nakaiana*. Its most distinctive feature is the contrast between blue-green leaf centers and gray-blue margins, a combination unusual in small cultivars.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a compact mound 15 inches (38.1 cm) tall and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter, with cordate leaves 4 inches (10.2 cm) long and wide. It performs best in partial to full shade and is well-suited for rock gardens, troughs, or front-of-border positions. Its small stature also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most hostas.
