Overview
Registered in 2010, this giant blue-green hosta with white margins originated from a cross of *H. 'Frosty Morning'* × *H. 'Cosmic Hippie'*, pollinated by *H. 'Ma Breeder'*. Its most distinctive feature is the combination of streaked dark green and medium blue-green leaf centers with yellow to greenish-white flat margins, producing a variegated effect that shifts in color intensity through the growing season.
In the Garden
'Goat Hollow' forms a substantial mound reaching 46 inches (117 cm) in diameter and 21 inches (53 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. Its large, nearly round leaves with cordate bases and moderate corrugation provide strong textural presence in shaded borders and woodland gardens. The dark green scapes rise 28 to 30 inches (71 to 76 cm) above the foliage, carrying pale lavender flowers in midsummer. This cultivar pairs well with ferns, *Heuchera*, and other shade-tolerant perennials that contrast with its broad, blue-green foliage.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during establishment and throughout dry periods; apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, 'Goat Hollow' is susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing in typical hosta-growing zones.
