Overview

Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Glacial Towers' is a large, upright cultivar resulting from a cross between *H.* 'Breeder's Choice' (pod parent) and *H.* 'Corduroy' (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its nearly round, blue-green leaves with wide, flat, yellow-to-cream margins that transition to white with age, and for the two shades of grey-green adjacent to the leaf center that create a feathered, clean margin.

In the Garden

'Glacial Towers' reaches a mature diameter of 41 inches (104.1 cm) and a height of 28 inches (71.1 cm), with an upright habit and leaves held nearly flat. It is suitable for medium to large garden spaces, performing best in partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. Its bold foliage and upright form pair well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade perennials; it is not recommended for container culture due to its large size.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture, especially during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges. The thick, glaucous leaves offer moderate resistance to slugs, though deer may browse the foliage.
