Overview

Registered in 2011, this miniature hosta originated as a gold-leaved seedling of *Hosta* 'Blue Mouse Ears'. It forms a compact, mound-like plant 3 inches (7.6 cm) tall and 10 inches (25.4 cm) in diameter, with small, broadly ovate leaves that have a cordate base and slightly wavy margins. The leaf blade is dull green on both surfaces, edged with a flat yellow margin, and bears 6 to 7 pairs of veins.

In the Garden

'Giantland Sunny Mouse Ears' is suited to partial to full shade, typical for miniature hostas. Its slow growth rate and small mature size—approximately 10 inches (25 cm) wide and 3 inches (8 cm) tall—make it an excellent choice for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of a shaded border. It pairs well with other small perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*, and is well adapted to container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
