Overview
Registered in 2000, *Hosta* 'Genesee Genco' is a miniature cultivar of unknown parentage. It forms a compact mound of medium green leaves with flat, variegated margins, distinguished by a slightly shiny upper surface and a very shiny lower surface, with tapered leaf bases and five to six vein pairs.
In the Garden
'Genesee Genco' reaches a mature spread of approximately 18 inches (45 cm) and a height of 6 inches (15 cm), with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones and performs well in rock gardens, troughs, or as a front-of-border accent. Its small size also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation. Companion plants might include small ferns, heucheras, or other miniature hostas.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage, so monitor regularly and employ control measures if necessary.
