Year registered2009
Section classII-2

Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Blue Suede Shoes' registered in 2009, 'Fuzzy Dice' forms a large, slow-growing mound distinguished by its medium blue-green leaves with a glaucous bloom on both surfaces and lightly corrugated texture. The broadly ovate leaves, measuring 9 inches long and 8 inches wide with cordate bases and 13 vein pairs, create a substantial, rounded clump reaching 48 inches in diameter and 18 inches in height.

In the Garden

'Fuzzy Dice' performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue-green foliage maintains its color and glaucous coating. The plant's large size and slow growth rate make it suitable as a specimen or in the middle to back of shaded borders, where it can be paired with ferns, astilbes, or other shade-tolerant perennials. Its mound-like habit and substantial leaf surface also work well in large containers, though the slow growth means it will take several seasons to reach full size.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Fuzzy Dice' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones, so monitoring and protective measures may be necessary.
