Overview

Registered in 1985 by M. Zilis and T&Z Nursery, 'Fury of Flame' is a large hosta cultivar derived from a seedling of *Hosta ventricosa* 'Aureomaculata'. It is visually distinctive for its green leaves with gold margins and chartreuse streaks, creating a variegated pattern that extends into the leaf margins.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches a mature spread of approximately 46 inches (117 cm) and a height of 23 inches (58 cm), making it suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. Its large, prominently veined leaves pair well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. The scape, which can reach up to 40 inches (102 cm) in height, supports lavender flowers in midsummer.

Care Notes

'Fury of Flame' performs best in moist, well-drained soil with consistent watering during dry periods. Fertilize lightly in early spring as new growth emerges; slug and deer damage may occur in typical hosta-growing zones.
