Overview
Registered in 1991 by W. & E. Lachman, this small blue-green hosta is a selfed seedling of *Hosta* 'Blue Moon'. It is visually distinguished by its rounded, heavily cupped leaves with dark blue-green coloration, undulating margins, and a dense, mounding habit.
In the Garden
'Full Moon' forms a compact mound 11.5 inches (29.2 cm) tall and 20 inches (50.8 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or small-scale woodland settings. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue-green foliage retains its color; excessive sun may cause leaf bleaching. Its small size and tidy habit also make it a good candidate for container cultivation. Companion plants that appreciate similar conditions include ferns, *Heuchera*, and *Tiarella*.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
