Overview
Registered in 2002 by P. Ruh, *Hosta* 'Fukurin Tosayama' is a miniature cultivar of unknown parentage, distinguished by its small, dense clump of ovate leaves with deeply rippled, piecrust margins. The leaf blade is medium green with a yellow cast, while the margin transitions from yellow early in the season to white, measuring 0.2 to 0.5 cm wide.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a compact mound reaching 16.5 cm (6.5 in) in height and 19.1 cm (7.5 in) in diameter, with a slow growth rate. It is suited to partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones and performs well in rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Its miniature size and distinctive leaf texture make it an appropriate choice for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer exposures. Fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be monitored.
