Overview
Registered in 2010 by F. Freeman, this small blue-green hosta of unknown parentage is distinguished by its compact, upright habit and broadly ovate, lightly cupped leaves with medium blue-green margins. The leaf surface is slightly shiny above and dull beneath, with nine pairs of veins and a cordate base.
In the Garden
‘Franc’s Blueboy Lost’ reaches a mature diameter of 24 inches (61.0 cm) and a height of 9 inches (22.9 cm), with an upright growth form and slow development. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and is well suited to rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders due to its small stature. Companion plants may include small ferns, heucheras, or woodland groundcovers that appreciate similar conditions.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through routine monitoring or physical barriers.
