Overview

Registered in 2006 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Fragrant Blue', 'Fragrant Mist' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by blue-green leaves with white margins and a creamy, dot-and-streak pattern resembling the 'Spilt Milk' variegation. Its leaves exhibit a glaucous bloom on both surfaces, with flat margins and an ovate shape with a rounded base.

In the Garden

Reaching approximately 9 inches (22.6 cm) in height and 14 inches (35.1 cm) in diameter, 'Fragrant Mist' forms a compact, mound-like clump with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its small size makes it suitable for rock gardens, woodland edges, or the front of shaded borders. Companion plants such as ferns, heucheras, or small shade-tolerant perennials complement its blue-green foliage.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
