Overview

Registered in 2007 as a sport of an unnamed parent, *Hosta* 'Fragrant Blue Ribbons' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by intensely blue-green leaves with creamy white, irregularly jetted margins. The leaf surface carries a glaucous bloom on both sides, and the blue coloration persists late into the growing season.

In the Garden

This hosta forms a mound 12 inches (30.5 cm) tall and 25 inches (63.5 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-leaved cultivars, and is suitable for borders, woodland gardens, or shaded foundation plantings. Its medium size makes it appropriate for pairing with ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials, though it is not typically recommended for container culture due to its mature spread.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, especially in the first growing season, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
