Overview
Registered in 1994, 'Foxy Doxy' is a medium-sized hosta resulting from a cross between *Hosta* 'William Lachman' and *Hosta* 'Frances Williams'. This cultivar is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with smooth margins, a glaucous bloom on both surfaces, and a cordate leaf base; the leaves are streaked, measuring 6 inches (15.2 cm) long by 5.5 inches (14.0 cm) wide with nine vein pairs.
In the Garden
'Foxy Doxy' forms a semi-upright clump reaching 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and 28 inches (71.1 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border positions in partial to full shade. Its blue-green foliage pairs well with golden or chartreuse-leaved perennials such as *Hakonechloa macra* 'Aureola' or *Heuchera* 'Lime Rickey'. The plant is not suited to container cultivation due to its medium size.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Foxy Doxy' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and employ barriers or repellents as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
