Overview
Registered in 2005, *Hosta* 'Foxy Cat' is a medium-sized cultivar derived from *Hosta* 'Foxy Doxy' (pod parent, pollen parent unknown). It is visually distinctive for its glaucous blue-green leaves with wide, greenish yellow, slightly rippled margins and deeply corrugated, broadly ovate leaf blades with cordate bases.
In the Garden
'Foxy Cat' forms an upright, moderate-growing clump reaching 22 inches (55.9 cm) in both height and diameter. Its glaucous foliage performs best in partial to full shade, where the blue-green leaf centers and contrasting margins remain most pronounced. This cultivar pairs well with other shade perennials such as ferns, *Heuchera*, and *Astilbe* in woodland borders or shaded beds.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Foxy Cat' is susceptible to slug and deer damage and may require protective measures in areas where these pests are prevalent.
