Overview

Registered in 2003 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Whirlwind', 'Foxfire Snake Eyes' is a small hosta distinguished by its intense, twisted leaves with heavy substance. The foliage features a white, jagged central stripe bordered by dark green margins, creating a sharp, high-contrast variegation pattern.

In the Garden

This small cultivar reaches a mature height of approximately 6–8 inches with a spread of 12–14 inches, making it suitable for the front of a shaded border or rock garden. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its twisted, wavy leaves hold their color well. 'Foxfire Snake Eyes' pairs effectively with other small hostas, ferns, or woodland perennials such as *Heuchera* and *Tiarella*, and is well-suited for container cultivation given its compact size.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar may be damaged by slugs and deer, though its heavy leaf substance offers some resistance.
