Overview

Registered in 2003 by W. & E. Lachman, this medium-sized cultivar is distinguished by its deeply corrugated, ovate leaves with cordate bases, which display medium green centers marked by unstable streaks of burned yellow and gold margins. The leaf surface is slightly shiny above and dull beneath, with 12 pairs of veins and slightly rippled margins.

In the Garden

The plant forms a mound-like clump reaching 24 inches (61.0 cm) in height and 60 inches (152.4 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, as typical for hostas, and benefits from protection from strong afternoon sun to prevent leaf scorch. Its substantial size and bold foliage make it suitable as a specimen or for mid-border placement, pairing well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as the corrugated leaves can provide shelter for slugs.
