Overview
Registered in 2013 as a sport of a seedling of unknown origin, 'Forest Treasure' is a miniature hosta distinguished by its unusually long, narrow leaves. The foliage presents a medium blue-green center with a 0.25-inch (0.6 cm) pure white, slightly rippled margin, creating a crisp variegation on a compact plant.
In the Garden
'Forest Treasure' forms a dense, fast-growing mound reaching 5 inches (12.7 cm) in height and 10 inches (25.4 cm) in diameter. Its miniature size and lance-shaped leaves suit rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Plant in partial to full shade; companion with small ferns or sedges for textural contrast. The plant performs well in containers due to its compact habit.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods; apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs may damage the thin leaves, and deer will browse the foliage if accessible.
