Overview
Registered in 2009, 'Forest Pebbles' is a small sport of a seedling of unknown parentage. This cultivar is visually distinctive for its dark green leaves with broad, creamy white, slightly rippled margins, combined with a pronounced corrugation on the blade surface that creates a pebbled texture.
In the Garden
'Forest Pebbles' forms an upright to mounding clump reaching 15 inches (38.1 cm) in height and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to light shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and its small size makes it suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Companion plants include small ferns, heucheras, or woodland groundcovers that do not overwhelm its compact habit.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Forest Pebbles' may be susceptible to slug damage; monitor foliage and manage as needed in damp conditions.
