Overview
Registered in 2000, *Hosta* 'Forest Fireworks' is a small cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, with *H.* 'Amy Aden' as the pod parent. It is visually distinctive for its compact mound of green leaves edged with creamy white margins, the leaf centers displaying a light greenish-yellow cast that brightens the overall appearance.
In the Garden
'Forest Fireworks' forms a moderate-growing mound reaching 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and pairs well with other small shade perennials such as ferns, heucheras, or dwarf astilbes. Its small size and tidy habit also make it an excellent choice for trough gardens or shaded patio pots.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, 'Forest Fireworks' may be susceptible to slug damage and is occasionally browsed by deer, so monitoring and protective measures are advisable in areas where these pests are prevalent.
