Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'William Lachman' registered in 2000, 'Fond Memory' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its medium green leaves with broad, creamy white margins. The flat, cordate-based foliage measures 7 inches (17.8 cm) long by 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) wide, with 1.25-inch (3.2 cm) margins and eight vein pairs, exhibiting slight glossiness on both surfaces.
In the Garden
'Fond Memory' forms a moderate-growing mound 11 inches (27.9 cm) high and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter, suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. Its medium stature and variegated foliage pair well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials; it also performs adequately as a container specimen when provided with consistent moisture.
Care Notes
Provide regular water during dry periods; apply balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Fond Memory' is susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing, requiring protective measures in areas where these pests are prevalent.
