Overview

Registered in 2007, *Hosta* 'Flatliner' is a small, mound-forming cultivar resulting from a cross between the seedling 95-201 and *Hosta venusta*. It is visually distinctive for its lance-shaped, medium green leaves that display irregular light and dark green streaking, bordered by narrow, creamy white, heavily rippled margins.

In the Garden

'Flatliner' reaches a mature diameter of 25 inches (63.5 cm) and a height of 8 inches (20.3 cm), with scapes rising 26 to 28 inches (66.0 to 71.1 cm). It performs best in partial to full shade and is well-suited to the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture due to its compact size. The small, wavy leaves pair effectively with fine-textured shade perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. As with most hostas, monitor for slug and deer damage, though the heavily rippled margins may offer some resistance.
