Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Dreamland' registered in 2004, 'Field of Dreams' is a small, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its medium green leaves with broad, white, slightly rippled margins. The ovate leaves, measuring 4 inches (10.2 cm) long and 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) wide, exhibit a slight gloss on both surfaces and feature 5 to 6 vein pairs.
In the Garden
Reaching 10 inches (25.4 cm) in height and 22 inches (55.9 cm) in diameter, 'Field of Dreams' forms a compact mound with moderate growth. It performs best in partial to light shade, typical for hostas, and is well-suited to the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings due to its small size. Its white-edged leaves provide contrast when paired with fine-textured shade perennials such as ferns or heucheras.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer exposures. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor and manage as needed.
