Overview

Registered in 2005, this small hosta cultivar of unknown pollen parentage (with *Hosta* 'Fascination' as the pod parent) is distinguished by its nearly round, dull green leaves with greenish white flat margins. The foliage undergoes notable color changes through the growing season, and the compact mound form reaches 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height and 14 inches (35.6 cm) in diameter.

In the Garden

'Fat Cheeks' performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its moderate growth rate produces a tidy, mound-like habit suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or woodland edges. With mature dimensions of 7 inches tall and 14 inches wide, it fits well in container plantings or as a groundcover accent among small ferns or shade-tolerant perennials. The 3-inch-long, 2.5-inch-wide leaves feature six vein pairs and a cordate base, with flat, dull surfaces on both sides.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor foliage regularly and apply control measures as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
