Overview
Registered in 2002, this sport of *Hosta* 'Island Charm' is distinguished by its small mound-like habit and unusual leaf coloration: a dark green, slightly rippled margin surrounding a pure white center with fine white speckling. The leaf substance is notably superior to that of its parent, contributing to the cultivar's durability.
In the Garden
Reaching 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height and spreading to 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter, 'Fantasy Island' forms a compact, fast-growing mound suitable for the front of shaded borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. Its small size and white-centered leaves make it an effective accent among fine-textured shade perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera* in typical hosta-growing zones. The pinkish scapes, rising 16 to 18 inches (40.6 to 45.7 cm), carry pale lavender flowers in midsummer.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage.
