Overview
Registered in 2011 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Fall Dazzler', 'Fall Splendor' is a small, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its uniform blue-green foliage. Unlike its variegated parent, this sport produces solid-colored leaves, reverting to a single, cool-toned hue across the entire plant.
In the Garden
'Fall Splendor' reaches a mature diameter of 17 inches (43.2 cm) and a height of 8 inches (20.3 cm), forming a dense, fast-growing mound. Its lance-shaped leaves, measuring 5 inches (12.7 cm) long by 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) wide, feature a dull upper surface and a glaucous bloom underneath, with slightly wavy margins and rounded bases. The plant performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue-green coloration remains most intense. It pairs well with other small hostas or shade-tolerant perennials such as ferns and heucheras, and is well-suited for container cultivation given its compact dimensions.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Fall Splendor' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
