Overview
Registered in 2009, 'Fall Dazzler' is a small, mound-forming hosta of Japanese origin, wild-collected as a form of *Hosta longipes*. Its visual distinction lies in the combination of blue-green leaf centers with narrow, flat white margins and a notably late flowering period in September and October.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a low, dense mound reaching 8 inches (20.3 cm) in height and 17 inches (43.2 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to light shade, typical for small hostas, and its compact size makes it well suited for troughs, rock gardens, or the front of a border. Companion plants with contrasting fall color or texture, such as sedges or dwarf ferns, complement its late-season display.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods to maintain even soil moisture; fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges. While generally robust, the thin leaves may be susceptible to slug damage, and protection from deer is advisable in areas where they are prevalent.
