Overview
Registered in 2014 by M. Zilis, this small-sized cultivar is a sport of *Hosta* 'The Perfect Storm'. It is distinguished by its nearly round, very shiny leaves with dark green flat margins and a moderately flat habit, combined with red-purple petioles that contrast with the dark green scapes.
In the Garden
Reaching 9 inches (22.9 cm) in height and 14 inches (35.6 cm) in diameter, 'Eye of the Storm' has an upright growth habit and a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its small size makes it suitable for rock gardens, container plantings, or the front of a border. Companion plants that appreciate similar conditions include ferns, heucheras, and small woodland perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are recommended, as the shiny foliage may be attractive to both pests.
