Overview

Registered in 2009 by K. Walek, *Hosta* 'Exquisite' is a large, upright cultivar of unknown parentage distinguished by its nearly round, dark blue-green leaves with a silvery cast and a prominent glaucous bloom on the upper surface. The leaf blades measure 8.5 inches (21.6 cm) in length and 8 inches (20.3 cm) in width, with cordate bases and margins that exhibit a silvery overlay.

In the Garden

With a mature spread of 54 inches (137.2 cm) and a height of 24 inches (61.0 cm), 'Exquisite' forms a substantial, upright clump suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. Its large, blue-green foliage pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials that contrast in texture or color. The plant's substantial size makes it unsuitable for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through standard horticultural practices.
