Overview
Registered in 2013, 'Evil Woman' is a large hosta cultivar of unknown parentage, distinguished by its dark green leaves with pale yellow, flat margins and deeply corrugated, moderately wavy leaf surfaces. The foliage is ovate with cordate bases, slightly shiny on top and dull beneath, with 12 vein pairs per leaf.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a mound-like clump reaching 15 inches (38.1 cm) in height and 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, where its gold margins contrast well with darker green companions such as ferns or heucheras. Its large size makes it suitable as a specimen or in the middle to back of a shaded border.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges; slug and deer damage may occur and should be monitored in susceptible gardens.
