Overview
Registered in 2010 by R. Kuenster, *Hosta* 'Evening Prayers' is a large, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its dark green, heavily glossy leaves with wide, flat, yellow margins. The ovate leaves, measuring 23.5 cm long and 17.8 cm wide, possess 14 to 16 vein pairs and exhibit light folding and waviness.
In the Garden
'Evening Prayers' reaches a mature height of 38.1 cm and spreads to a diameter of 71.1 cm, forming a dense, moderate-growing mound. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, where its glossy foliage and gold margins are most pronounced. Its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen or in mixed shade borders, paired with ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer deterrents are recommended, as the broad, tender leaves are attractive to both pests.
