Overview
Registered in 2002 by M. Zilis and introduced by P. & J. Ruh, *Hosta* 'Euphoria' is a medium-sized variegated cultivar derived from a cross between *H. 'Sum and Substance'* (pod parent) and *H. rupifraga* (pollen parent). It is distinguished by its upright mound habit, lance-shaped leaves with light green, slightly rippled margins, and a very shiny undersurface.
In the Garden
'Euphoria' forms a mound 17 inches (43.2 cm) tall and 34 inches (86.4 cm) wide, with a moderate growth rate. Its unusual leaf shape and long petioles make it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in partial shade, typical of hosta-growing zones. The light green variegation pairs well with darker-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs may damage the foliage, though the moderately cupped leaves offer some protection; deer are known to browse hostas and may require deterrent measures.
